“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians. 4:6-7
Don’t be worried, stressed, or full of care for anything, but approach every single thing, every day, every task, every problem, every fear with prayer and asking, and do this with thanksgiving. In II Chron. 20 there is a great example of this. Israel and Jehoshaphat, their king, are absolutely stressed out because they were under attack from multiple enemies.
First, they go to God in prayer (v.3-5). They express their faith in who God is (v. 6-7). They openly confess their inability to solve their problem, “for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do:” And they conclude with “but our eyes are upon thee” (v. 12). God gives them His answer and tells the king and the rest of the nation that they will not have to fight this battle, but that He will fight it for them.
What a lesson for the stressin! You see, we often pray, but then we continue in our anxiety. We don’t commit our fears to God and respond in faithfilled thanks. Have you been losing the fight?
Today, give your battle plan over to the One who has already won the war. What is the most stressful thing in your life right now? When will you trust God and start praising Him for the victory?
