10 Reasons to Come to the Church Picnic

This Sunday is supposed to be one of the most beautiful days of the year in Las Vegas. I hope that you are planning to spend the day at the Southern Hills Church Picnic! Here are 10 really good reasons to come:

10. Sunset Park
This is the greatest location our church has ever reserved for our annual picnic! Plenty of covered seating, beautiful grass fields and huge trees, a lake for fishing, a giant playground for the little ones. It really is the greatest park in Las Vegas!

9. An All Day Event
Our service times will remain the same (8:00am, 9:45m, 11:30am) but the picnic will begin at 10:30am and last all day. You can come for the entire event or just hang out for an hour or so. Most will come to one of the 3 services and then head on over to the picnic site.

We have no dress code at Southern Hills, but some of you like to dress up every Sunday. Thats great! However, this Sunday you will want to come to church as casual as possible. Wear whatever you want. Just please wear something!

7. FREE FOOD
Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Chips, Soda, and plenty of water bottles will be available to everyone. We ordered LOTS of food so you’d better show up and eat! Serving lines open up at 11:30am.

6. Bounce House
If your kids are like mine – they will be in line for the bounce house for most of the day. The one we ordered is huge and will be a special memory for every kids who comes.

5. Princess Boutique
Bring your little princess to get transformed into a stunning royal princess. This is more than your typical face painting session… this is a princess boutique.

4. Annual Football Challenge
Many of our men come solely for this event. This flag football game begins at 3:00pm and is fun to watch as well as participate in. If you’re a dude that is tired of sitting on the couch and watching… I’ve got one question – Are you ready for some football?

3. Cotton Candy & Popcorn
It’s become an annual tradition, thanks to my friends Mark & Kathy, to feast upon free, all-you-can-eat popcorn and cotton candy. These vendors will be open almost the entire day.

2. Snow Cones
I love shaved ice! If you’re at the picnic and you can’t find pastor Josh, understand, I’ll be getting another snow cone! Oh yeah! It’s going to be that good!

1. The Main Event
At 1:30pm we will be hosting The Main Event. Come and have a seat around the arena where you can watch and participate in 10 of the most exciting picnic games in the world. There will be classic games like the 3-legged race and newer games like the arm wrestling tournament. How many blue ribbons will you win?

This will be a day to remember. Come and do everything or nothing at all. Relax and watch or jump in and play. Either way you are going to have a great time. This event is open to the general public and even if you are not a part of our church you are welcome to attend!

What are you looking forward to most about this year’s church picnic?
