“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5&6
It started out like any other day – wake up, reluctantly roll out of bed, take a quick shower because you snoozed your alarm one time too many, and head to work . . . until, the moment came that changed everything. The news hit us like a ton of bricks. God was closing the door on what we had truly believed was God’s will for us and our life’s calling. What do you do when you get news that completely alters your direction in life?
To be honest, it was a hard pill to swallow. Up until that point, we had truly believed we were in the center of His will. But His will for us was changing and our response to the sudden change in our lives would determine our future. You see, God never does anything on accident. There is always a purpose for the trials He gives us, and as long as we believe that, we can make it through to the other side.
We were completely lost with no direction. God used that time to, once again, bring us to the point of fully relying on Him and His promises to us. We may not have understood in the moment why the change needed to come, but we could rest in the fact that God knows the beginning and the end.
If that turning point had not happened in our lives, we would never have ended up serving at Southern Hills Baptist Church. What a joy it has been! God has truly blessed our lives for being willing to trust Him with the change. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
When has God turned my life upside down for “my good?” What is going on right now in my life that I simply need to trust His perfect will?
